Happy New Year

The doors (garage) of CrossFit Greenpoint opened on the tail-end of 2012. While we didn’t quite exist for the entirety of the last decade, we certainly came close. At times (most) I find myself averse to holidays, celebrations, and many group social endeavors - for no reason other than my own insecurities and discomfort.

Regardless of this bias, the community of CFGP has thrived - a multitude of colorful and vibrant leaves hanging from different branches all sharing the same sun and roots. There are faces in class today from year one, also faces that are experiencing the unique oddness of CFGP for the first time. Sadly, there are faces that are no more and yet have imprinted upon us in such a strong way that we’ll never forget their influence on our environment.

At times I don’t think what we have is a real - so much so that I sit on the edge of my chair waiting for the walls to melt away - a long dream that needed to end at some point. It never does.

To some of you, class is simply class, a place to sweat and burn calories - but - you’re just as important as the person who cries over failed PR attempts, who’s intensity vibrates through the floor knocking the chalk out of the buckets. We simply wouldn’t be what we are without each other, evolving in some odd way that only Christopher Nolan could explain through the likes of a bookcase.

As 2020 begins I extend my gratitude to every person that has trusted us. I’m beyond excited to share upcoming workouts, sweaty floors, bloody hands, contagious laughs, and even the salty tears.

Cheers to you and everything you aspire to be - CFGP will do it’s very best to help you along the way.
